Project HOME Goes to Washington

Michael Gainer

Our Philadelphia Alliance for Supportive Services to Veteran Families (PASSVF) program coordinator Jeanne Ciocca (center) recently joined Chris Fuentes (right of Jeanne), a veteran who received services through PASSVF, at the White House for the Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness announcement.

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness is "a way to solidify partnerships and secure commitments to end Veteran homelessness from mayors across the country. Specifically, the call to action – announced by First Lady Michelle Obama, and amplified by HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan and leaders across HUD, VA, USICH, and by the National League of Cities – is for mayors to make a commitment to ending Veteran homelessness in their cities in 2015."

Chris followed First Lady Michelle Obama at the podium to explain why this challenge was so important. You can view her remarks here.
