Hyacinth King: Beloved Activist, Trustee, and Friend

Dear Project HOME Community,

We have lost another beloved member of the Project HOME community. Hyacinth King, Activist, Former Trustee, Faithful Friend to so many and long-time resident of 1515 Fairmount Avenue, passed away this week after taking ill and having to be hospitalized.

For so many years, Hyacinth was a strong leader in the Project HOME community, sharing her story with the media, visitors and friends, and many elected officials. She served on our Board of Trustees for nine years and worked in numerous capacities within Project HOME, especially in the Outreach Coordination Center.  We were all touched by her boundless kindness, good humor, gentleness, and endless willingness to serve others.

It has been a tough season of loss for us at Project HOME, and it is all the more important that we care for each other. The memory of Hyacinth, who embodied the spirit of community that we all seek to nurture, will inspire and strengthen us even through these difficult days.
