Volunteers Needed for 2016 Point in Time Count of People Experiencing Homelessness in Philadelphia
For one night in January, those without a home become the center of a coordinated effort called the Point in Time Count. The annual count is part of a national measure coordinated by the City of Philadelphia Office of Supportive Housing and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, in partnership with the Veteran’s Administration, Project HOME, Philadelphia’s homeless service providers, and volunteers!
Philly COUNTS is scheduled for January 27, 2016, 10PM to 3AM. The night will begin at Rodeph Shalom Synagogue, 615 N. Broad Street. Teams of 4-6 people will canvass a defined geographic zone. Any person spending the night of January 27th on the street will be counted on a tally sheet and asked if they would like to participate in a short survey. Information gathered will support efforts to end homelessness.
In order to make Philly COUNTS a success, we need your help! Trainings for new volunteers will be conducted throughout January.
