A Summer Filled with Learning and Fun
The K-8 Program at the Honickman Learning Center and Comcast Technology Labs just successfully completed six weeks of summer camp! With almost 100 students enrolled, each day of summer camp was filled with academic skill development, fun science projects, engaging enrichment activities, and exciting trips.
This summer we continued implementing the Read by 4th Program, a literacy program developed by the Free Library of Philadelphia to support students reading on grade level by 4th grade. Our kindergarten through 4th grade students logged almost 1000 hours of literacy activities!
During summer camp students enjoyed activities like yoga, clay making with The Clay Mobile/The Clay Studio, comic book drawing, sewing, and video production. Students also had the opportunity to go on fun trips to places like The Herr’s Factory, SkyZone, skating at Millennium Skating, bowling at the Playdrome, and, because of our partnership with The Franklin Institute, students were able to visit the museum and see the new Pixar exhibit for free.
The K-8 Program thanks all of our partners, volunteers, and especially our students and their families for another amazing summer.
