Advocacy
City Hall in Philadelphia

Approximately 17,000 people experience homelessness in a year in Philadelphia. We call on Mayor-elect Parker and the City Council to prioritize the following solutions to end homelessness:

  • Create more affordable, accessible housing units, including permanent housing for people in recovery, and provide additional shelter beds during weather emergencies.
  • Support voucher-holders by issuing sanctions to landlords who violate the Fair Practices Ordinance by refusing to rent to them.
  • Fund rental assistance programs for Philadelphians who are struggling to close the gap between income and rent.
  • Expand services for people experiencing homelessness, including people with disabilities.
  • Provide targeted supportive housing for special populations, including women, children, families, people who are aging, and young adults who are exiting foster care, and/or identify as LGBTQIA+.
