[RELEASE] Winter Homeless Engagement Center in Suburban Station Reopens

Project HOME's Hub of Hope, Located Under Two Penn Center, Begins Sixth Season

PHILADELPHIA, January 10, 2016—The Hub of Hope began its sixth consecutive winter of operation this week in the same storefront under Two Penn Center in Suburban Station.

The Hub of Hope is a walk-in engagement center run by Project HOME that provides social and health services from January through April to individuals experiencing chronic homelessness who live in Center City.

"We provide hospitality services and case managers, medical providers, behavioral health providers, and recovery coaches who bring vital services directly to people who are experiencing homelessness and finding respite in the subway concourses during the winter months," said Hub of Hope Coordinator Angie Lewis.

The Hub of Hope will be open Monday through Friday mornings from 7 am to 10 am, and then again from 6 pm to 8 pm Tuesday through Thursday. 

Last year, staff met with 1712 unduplicated individuals, 1332 of whom were first-time participants.

Project HOME and its partners have pledged to end chronic street homelessness in Philadelphia, housing 2,200 people--1,000 people who have been long-term street homeless, 200 youth who are homeless and/or aging out of foster care, and 1,000 people who are homeless on the street and addicted but ready for recovery and work.
