[RELEASE] Local Businesses, Organizations Ensure Full Thanksgiving Meals for Area Families in Need

Project HOME the recipient of hundreds of donated turkeys from ACME, The Justi Group, Fresh Direct, The Honickman Foundation, and The Do-Gooders

PHILADELPHIA, November 17, 2016 – Several hundred families in need will be assured a full Thanksgiving dinner thanks to the donation of 600 turkey dinners by area businesses and organizations including: ACME, The Justi Group, Fresh Direct, The Haverford School, The Honickman Foundation, and The Do-Gooders.

Project HOME will be collecting the donations at the Police Athletic League, where businesses and volunteers associated with the Philadelphia chapters of the World Presidents’ Organization (WPO) and Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) will build care packages that will include a turkey and side dishes, enabling recipients to cook a complete meal. With lead sponsors, The Justi Group and The Lloyd Group, additional food and volunteers will be provided by: Arbill, Blommer Chocolate Company, Delta Paper, IT Solutions Consulting, Inc., The Levene Family, NFI Industries, Parkway Corporation, SofterWare Inc., and Swain Destinations.

“Project HOME is proud to be working with these generous local donors to ensure families can gather and enjoy this Thanksgiving,” said Executive Director S. Mary Scullion.

This is the seventh year that volunteers from the WPO and YPO have joined in to provide Thanksgiving meals to Philadelphia families.

In addition multiple local businesses and organizations will provide turkey dinner baskets to Project HOME’s formerly homeless residents, including: 97.5 The Fanatic, Bryn Athyn College, Cardinal John Foley Regional Catholic High School, Catering By Design, Epiphany Church, First Tabernacle Church of God, Marriott Hotel Philadelphia, Mercy Career and Technical High School, Nativity BVM Parish, People’s Security Bank, Pinnacle Group, St. Joseph’s University, Villanova University, and Waldron Mercy Academy.

Since 1989, Project HOME has helped thousands of people break the cycle of homelessness and poverty by providing a continuum of services that includes street outreach, supportive housing and comprehensive services that focus on health care, education and employment through both adult and youth education and enrichment programs at the Honickman Learning Center and Comcast Technology Labs and community-based health care services at the Stephen Klein Wellness Center. Project HOME and its partners have pledged to end chronic street homelessness in Philadelphia, housing 2,200 people--1,000 people who have been long-term street homeless, 200 youth who are homeless and/or aging out of foster care, and 1,000 people who are homeless on the street and addicted but ready for recovery and work.
