Project HOME Hires Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vice President
We welcome Natalia Cardona Sanchez, our new Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Project HOME has been on a journey to become an antiracist organization for the last two years. We developed a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiative, devoting leadership teams, monetary resources, and concrete goals in our strategic plan to help us transform our internal culture to match our external mission. Part of that plan involved hiring a Vice President of DEI to lead these efforts.
Now, we are excited to announce that Natalia Cardona Sanchez will be that new vice president. Natalia is a social justice activist, DEI practitioner and consultant with over twenty years of service in the non-profit sector. Her experience spans issues of racial justice and critical race theory, economic justice, Indigenous rights, women’s rights, partnership development and peace.
Natalia is a graduate of the New School, New York, where she obtained an Msc in International Affairs with a specialization in Poverty & Inequality. Natalia is originally from Guatemala and was forced to emigrate to Canada, with her family, at the age of 11 due to a civil war in her home country. It is an experience that has marked her activism and work in movements for social justice.
She most recently served as the Associate Director for Justice and Equity at 350.org. In addition, she has held several posts with international and national organizations including the American Friends Service Committee, the Center for Women’s Global Leadership at Rutgers University, Social Watch and the Association for Women’s Rights in Development—a global feminist network. Natalia has decades of experience helping organizations center equity, diversity and inclusion.
We welcome Natalia home and look forward to doing this difficult and important work under her leadership.
