Project HOME 2020 Summer Program for Service Learning
Project HOME offers rising 9th to 12th grade students a virtual summer service opportunity focused on learning about issues of poverty and homelessness and building relationships with others involved in social change.
Though the impacts of COVID-19 can change the nature and form of our work, it cannot stop it; as the great John Lewis once said, “Nothing can stop the power of a committed and determined people to make a difference in our society."
The Summer Program is an excellent way to explore issues facing Philadelphia and discover what you can do, while gaining valuable community service experience.
While in-person volunteering is on hold at this time, through the power of technology we will be meeting with residents and hearing their stories, as well as learning from Project HOME staff and others about the work that they do, and even more importantly what students can do—we will hold online bingo, support efforts to mobilize voters, and other events.
We will have 3 one-week sessions, and (space permitting) students have the option of signing up for any/all sessions.
