[NEWS] Perseverance pays off with new senior center

From The Philadelphia Tribune:

City officials broke ground this week for the new Martin Luther King Older Adult Center on Cecil B. Moore Avenue in North Philadelphia. And it couldn’t have come a moment sooner for Edith Lollie.

A longtime member of the center, located in the 2100 block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue, Lollie loves to line dance there. She was a former head of the building committee and a vocal advocate to replace the aging 45-year-old structure that serves thousands of adults 60 and older.

“We don’t have enough space, that’s the main thing,” Lollie said in listing the problems. “We’re crowded and it’s an old building. We have many programs and we need the space, that’s our biggest downfall.”
