[NEWS] Donation honors pope's visit to area

A South Jersey retailer is donating $20,000 in new clothing to Project HOME, a Philadelphia nonprofit dedicated to fighting homelessness.

Forman Mills CEO Rick Forman said the company’s donation is timed to coincide with the papal visit to the city this weekend. The donation is about the equivalent of five van loads of clothing, he said, and will likely be given in the form of vouchers, so Project HOME’s clients can choose what they need.

The Pennsauken-based company frequently donates new clothing, school uniforms and other items to charitable organizations, such as the Woodland Community Development Corp. in Camden, Forman explained. In December, the retailer gave away $30 vouchers to Camden students in need. The company has also donated clothing in the wake of disasters, such as Superstorm Sandy.
