A Message from Donna
Dear Friends of Project HOME,
It fills my heart with joy to share this message with you as Project HOME’s new President and CEO.
I have been overwhelmed by the warm welcome I have received since July. Staff, residents, and partners like you have opened their doors and shared their pride in Project HOME’s community and mission.
I am honored to have been entrusted with this Beloved Community that Co-Founders, Joan Dawson McConnon and Sister Mary Scullion have created in partnership with caring, compassionate leaders like you.
From the locker rooms of Project HOME’s first location, the Marion Anderson Recreation Center, to our newest residence, Inn of Amazing Mercy, Sister Mary and Joan have acted as relentless champions for our most vulnerable neighbors and selfless stewards of public and private resources. Together, their visionary, compassionate, and dynamic leadership caused systems to change, brought people to the table, and above all, helped people come HOME.
What has been clear to me as a neighbor to Project HOME in Strawberry Mansion, is that Joan and Sister Mary saw a need and took action. Together, they grew Project HOME from the ground up. Thanks to their vision—and your compassion and generosity—Project HOME has been able to build and manage more than 1,000 units of permanent supportive housing, and impact thousands of lives through job training, medical care, and education.
And while I am profoundly grateful and inspired to be leading the Project HOME community, the torch has not just been passed to me.
It has been passed to all of us, and I look forward to joining you on this journey.
Your gift affords Project HOME the position of not only responding to immediate needs, but the opportunity to be strategic and focus on long-term solutions. The lessons learned in that first shelter have carried us through to the present: everybody matters, has value, and contributes to the fabric of our community.
We know that while homelessness remains an urgent crisis, there are real solutions.
This is where you come in.
I invite you to read the stories in this brochure. Become inspired by Neph. Become inspired by the impact you have helped to create. Become inspired to give because we need your leadership today to provide the resources for the journey HOME tomorrow.
I invite you to continue to believe and invest in a mission that we know can and will create a version of our city where None of Us are HOME Until All of Us are HOME.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Donna Bullock
