Engaging Children to Develop Academic Skills and Literacy and Help Them Reach Their Full Potential
Learning shouldn’t just happen at school. For children, every moment is a learning opportunity – a chance to gain a new experence, explore a new idea, or discover a lifelong passion. Project HOME’s K-8 Program at the Honickman Learning Center Comcast Technology Labs provides these high-quality learning opportunities in a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous environment and at times when children may need additional support.
Our K-8 After School Program has earned a 4-Star Keystone rating
The K-8 After School Program focuses on supporting children by developing their academic skills and raising their literacy levels. Children are able to learn essential 21st-century STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) skills in our state-of-the- art lab by creating projects in robotics and coding, engineering, animation, and other media arts. Additionally, students can find passions for other activities offered by program partners, including yoga, hip-hop, and dance.
Summer Camp runs for six weeks in July and August. Students develop literacy and math skills, create engineering and coding projects in our STEAM lab, engage in fun activities such as yoga, dance, and water play, and go on weekly trips.
The STEAM Lab focuses on science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics. It teaches digital literacy and new methods for designing a variety of products both physically and electronically. The “Binary Bots” robotics club teaches high school students about coding, engineering, and building robots with the latest technology in the industry and takes the club to competitions.
