Homeless Memorial Day

An attendee at a Homeless Memorial Day

Homeless Persons Memorial Day is a national event that takes place on or around December 21, the first day of winter and the longest night of the year. Since the early 1990s, a coalition of Philadelphia advocates, providers, and homeless/formerly homeless persons have commemorated the event locally with a special gathering to remember our homeless sisters and brothers who have died and to recommit ourselves to working to end homelessness in our city.

While this event may look very different than the large gatherings we have hosted in the past, it is perhaps more important than ever to remember and honor the lives lost this year.
