K-8 After-School Program
A key component of Project HOME's neighborhood revitalization efforts is strengthening the future of Philadelphia's youth. The K-8 After-School Program at the Honickman Learning Center Comcast Technology Labs provide a safe, nurturing and academically-challenging environment where children are encouraged to achieve their full potential.
The After-School Program at the Honickman Learning Center Comcast Technology Labs focuses on raising literacy levels, encouraging a love of reading and boosting math skills. Math and literacy activities are enhanced through the use of award-winning web-based software programs such as Dreambox Learning and Reading Eggs.
Children are taught to be technologically savvy through the use of cutting-edge computers and educational software. Additionally, the after-school program offers students a chance to explore the arts through volunteer lead activities such as Hip Hop dance or drama.
We also offer STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) programming in conjunction with our community partner institutions.
The program schedule is Monday through Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm. Students are served a hot, nutritious meal each day.
