Mercy and Justice Campaign

“I would encourage you to keep in mind all those people around us who are trapped in a cycle of poverty. They too need to be given hope. The fight against poverty and hunger must be fought constantly and on many fronts, especially in its causes.”
(Pope Francis during his U.S. visit, September 2015)

From the earliest news of Pope Francis’ announcement that he would visit Philadelphia, many people in our region recognized what a powerful opportunity it would provide to raise issues of poverty and human suffering.  So it was appropriate that the World Meeting of Families created a Hunger and Homelessness Committee to raise these crucial issues in light of the Papal Visit.  Project HOME was honored to play a leadership role throughout 2015 in the Committee and the Mercy and Justice Campaign.

The Papal Visit is now history – a history that we have archived here on our website.  It was a truly powerful and inspiring moment, and it further energizes us as we continue our mission to end homelessness and build a more just and compassion society for all people.  In hope, we continue the work of Mercy and Justice.
