Lead Teacher - After School Program
Available within our K-6 grade After-School and Summer Program. The program's primary goal is to raise the literacy level of children and help them to be competent and confident users of technology. We do this by integrating technology into educational and enrichment activities. Primary responsibility is to plan, teach and manage an After School classroom (grades 2nd-3rd). Responsibilities include planning and leading classroom activities, including literacy and technology instruction, supervision of all classroom staff (including Teacher Assistant and volunteers), program planning, ongoing assessment of each child's development, and planning enrichment trips and activities. Of significant importance is the development of a positive learning atmosphere. Qualified candidate must have a BA in Education or related field and PA teacher certification ; prior elementary teaching experience; excellent communication skills; strong computer skills; experience using technology in an educational setting; the ability to contribute as a member of a team and to successfully manage a classroom (including students, assistants and volunteers); prior supervisory experience preferred. Of particular importance is a deep commitment to improving the education and lives of young children and their families. Scheduled Hours: Monday -Thursday 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. during the school year (program hours will change during the summer), with occasional evenings and weekends commitments. If hired candidate must receive satisfactory clearance of child abuse and criminal background checks. Location: Honickman Learning Center/Comcast Technology Labs, 1936 N.
