Addictions Counselor

It is the primary responsibility of the Drug and Alcohol Counselor to provide supportive, therapeutic counseling and consultative services to the residents and staff of Project HOME.  The Counselor should be involved in the design, preparation, and sharing of new knowledge and skills with the residential program managers.  Facilitate weekly group counseling sessions, provide individual counseling services upon referral by case manager, and meet on a formal and informal basis with residents to provide education and encouragement, and coordinate supportive services and referrals for residents by outside agencies as needed. Qualified candidates must have a BSW or bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a related field; a CAC certification is a plus.  All candidates must also have experience providing supportive, therapeutic counseling and/or consultative services to clients in recovery from addiction; 3-5 years of experience working with dually diagnosed clients; knowledge of twelve step, harm reduction theory and motivation interviewing; a valid driver's license is a plus but candidates must have the ability to travel to multiple sites in the North Philadelphia and the Center City area. Persons in recovery are strongly urged to apply. Schedule: Monday - Friday 40 hours per week.   The hours will vary as some evenings and weekends will be required.
